Blushing Bunny Egg

This is a Clark Summit egg, from laying hens that are truly free-range and organic, raised in Tomales, CA. I pressed the still-warm hard-boiled egg in a bento egg press shaped like a bunny. Looks like he's blushing!

Cafe Trieste Cannoli

One of my favorite treats are cannoli. John and I used to have to go to North Beach in San Francisco to get fresh cannoli, but now, we have our very own Cafe Trieste in Berkeley, not even a mile away that always has fresh (most of the time) cannoli.

Poncho made by Lucia of Larimeloom

Lucia made this lovely poncho just for me (purchased on etsy: Larimeloom)! Lucia lives in Alba in the north west of Italy, at the foot the french alps, in a big house in the middle of the hills, with goats and a garden. That's Lucia modeling the poncho.

Delicious Skirt

I made this skirt for my sister who is a cake artist. This skirt is a Titus pattern, cut on the bias. Waist dimensions: 33-1/2" (should sit just above the hip). The fabric is a delicious chocolate cake with strawberries, raspberries, and cherries and is trimmed with a rich red bias tape at the waist and hem. It has a batik kind of look to it. I hope it fits her!

I Heart Bambi

This is the 2nd coat I made for Bambi based on an existing fleece coat she has had since we brought her home from Tony LaRussa's Animal Rescue Foundation. It is made with pastel rainbow fleece (baby soft), with hook closures at the neck and belly and a sweet pink heart applique.

Meditation Station

I want to start a meditation practice, but can't seem to get it going, so last Thursday I attended a meditation instruction at the Berkeley Buddhist Priory in Albany, CA. It's a start.

Lacto-Fermented Veggies

Just canned my 2nd batch of lacto-fermented veggies. Aren't they lovely! Just red and white cabbage, beets, and sea salt. For recipes and information on the health benefits of lacto-fermented veggies, check out "Wild Fermentation" by Sandor Katz and "Nourishing Traditions" by Sally Fallon.

Bambi's 4th Birthday!

Today is Bambi's 4th birthday. She is celebrating by having a pupcake (with a kibble on top) and sunning in the backyard. Also, on my way back from visiting Kris and Dex in SF, I stopped at "Cheeko B Pet Boutique" and picked up a Happy Birthday cookie.

Berkeley Flats Chihuahua

I was completely flabbergasted when I heard about this movie, "Beverly Hills Chihuahua" (3-Oct release). I'm hoping the same thing that happened with "101 Dalmatians" doesn't happen when this movie comes out. I am the caregiver to a Chihuahua and they are high maintenance dogs - especially the very small ones. If you want a Chihuahua, or any dog (cat, rabbit, horse, etc.) for that matter, please adopt and go to petfinder.com. Petfinder is where I found my Chihuahua, Bambi, over 4 years ago. You simply enter in the desired breed, sex, age, and your zip code and it lists all the animals that fit your criteria in local animal shelters. Or simply go to your local rescue website.
Remember, don't buy - adopt!
